The year 5723 (1962-3) was 150 years since the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe, and the Rebbe proclaimed it, “Shnas HaKan” (קן having the numerical value 150).

At the Seder that year, the Rebbe said that he would say (at least part of) the Haggadah in the tune used by the Alter Rebbe.
